Hello, I’m Olly and I am the man behind Mackie Wood Co. I design, create and make high quality bespoke furniture in my rural workshop in North Devon.

I’ve been a furniture maker for over 12 years, making bespoke items for private clients, galleries and interior design companies. My work has travelled countrywide as well as overseas.

Mackie Wood Co was a new concept that started during the lockdown times of covid. Well it was about time I joined the modern world and had an Internet presence! Prior to that selling locally at selected events and word of mouth was my marketing of choice!

From the first point of contact you speak to me, it’s me on the phone, the other end of an email and I’m writing this information about myself which isn’t easy!

I personally hand pick the finest timber for your projects. A day out at my timber supplier is always a good day just like a child in a sweet shop. I’ll be looking for the best quality, considering grain structure & patterns, colour and suitability for the project. It’s all locally grown with the majority of wood coming from trees that have to be felled due to safety reasons or taken down through woodland management projects.

I’ll then process the rough sawn boards into a stunning handcrafted piece of furniture. There’s no mass production here just the skills of a craftsman using traditional furniture making techniques, machines and handtools to make each and every individual piece.

It doesn’t stop there! I’ll be communicating with you en route, I’ll take photos for you to see your project at different stages and I’ll wrap it myself before sending it with one of my couriers.

In my shop you’ll see some designs that are ready to order. However, I do specialise in bespoke commission work, made to measure items designed for you, to suit your needs. In the bespoke section on this site you’ll find some examples of my work.
